This artwork is a one-of-a-kind vintage textile piece from Mali that is handmade in the traditional technique. Vintage Mudcloth is an incredible textile featuring geometric intricate designs that are created when cotton is hand spun and woven into strips of fabric. The fabric was then laid out to dry in the sun, after which gorgeous patterns would be intricately painted using a special kind of mud. The mud was collected from local streams and left to ferment for months. As the mud dried, it lightens and so the excess mud is washed off the fabric and the process is repeated many times. With each repetition, the affected area becomes darker. All the patterns carry meaning and significance.

Your item should be in its original packaging and be unused. It should also be returned in its original packaging.
